Tobacco Prevention Toolkit

Hello! Here is an update of what we did at the last meeting, just in case you were not there and want to stay updated.

For starters, we have partnered with Dr. Bonnie Halpern-Felsher from Stanford University, and she has created an online educational curriculum called the “Tobacco Prevention Toolkit” which we will be using to aid spread tobacco awareness. You can access the toolkit here: http://med.stanford.edu/tobaccopreventiontoolkit.html.

We are also planning to spread our reach to local schools such as La Salle, Arcadia, or South Pasadena. However, before we do this, we need to form a strong foundation in the city that our headquarters is in: San Marino, CA. Some people start smoking and vaping when they are very young, so we aim to spread awareness about their harms starting at an early age. We are contacting the two elementary schools in San Marino to see if we can host an assembly, speaking on the harms of smoking and vaping. We also hope to set up a lunchtime program at the middle school. At the high school, we are seeing what tobacco and nicotine education already exists so that we can add onto it. Outside of school, we plan to contact the Crowell Public Library and hold an educational event there.

Additionally, we need money in order to apply for a Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification. To fundraise, Lillyanne is creating custom stickers and/or buttons. We will be selling them as a way to both spread our message and collect funding.

We will be editing our website, so if you have any suggestions, please leave them down below.
